Nancy Cassutt

Executive Vice President Content

Nancy Cassutt is a seasoned media professional with extensive experience in newsroom leadership, change management, editorial strategy, and digital media. She has served in multiple media leadership roles in the past 35 years, including as Executive Director of Minnesota Public Radio News and Programming, and most recently leading the largest broadcast business and economics show in the country, Marketplace, with a national audience of more than 9 million weekly listeners.

She joined public media in 2010 as managing director for digital services for American Public Media (APM), overseeing the national digital team and working with content partners on the launch of several national programming websites. She then spent two years on the business side of the organization, leading APM’s national distribution team, driving revenue and acquiring deep experience working with public radio stations across the country.

Cassutt made the move into public media following two decades in commercial media, including a decade-long tenure at Internet Broadcasting, a digital startup company based in New York and Minneapolis that developed online operations for television news stations nationally. As senior vice president of content, she built and launched a newsroom focused on delivering national and international news to a network of more than 100 local TV news websites – just as media were struggling to adapt to the digital content needs of a 24/7 news cycle.

As a first-hand witness to the digital evolution and its impact on news media, Cassutt played an integral role in helping television stations change their business model from broadcast-only to broadcast and digital operations.

Cassutt started as an on-air reporter and manager at several Midwest TV stations. She was the Assistant News Director at the award-winning WCCO TV for more than three years.

Nancy is a passionate coach and mentor who loves building great teams and seeing others succeed.
